| OLD POINT LOMA LIGHTHOUSE
Old Point Loma Lighthouse near San Diego, CA
was one of the first lighthouses on the west coast. Built
in 1854, it was also the biggest at 462 feet above sea level.
However, fog and low clouds obscured the light on some
nights. On March 23, 1891 the lamp was extinguished and
the light was re-lighted down the bottom of the hill.
